Many seniors transition to independent living communities to simplify their living arrangements and alleviate the financial, and often physical, obligations of owning a home. Independent living communities provide a lifestyle free from the demands of home maintenance, aiming to enhance overall quality of life and reduce stress! Independent living apartments have full kitchens and often washers and dryers, allowing for continued independence with access to scheduled transportation and all the social activities and amenities of the community.

The Heritage at Fox Run’s assisted living services are designed to help and support residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including tasks like bathing and grooming, dressing, eating, meal preparation, using the restroom safely, managing continence, walking with or without assistance, and safe transferring. Assisted living apartments have a kitchenette with a microwave and full size refrigerator to offer residents the ability to safely prepare snacks and quick meals if they prefer that over dining in our community dining room. The goal of assisted living at The Heritage at Fox Run is to help your loved ones maintain their independence with some assistance as they need while fostering a vibrant and friendly community.

Preparing for senior living is similar to planning for other major life events, like getting married or having children. The process becomes much more manageable by managing your money properly and building a solid retirement budget. Finding a senior living community that fits your budget and provides the essential care you need is vital.

Seek out additional assistance from a financial planner to help you examine your finances, determine a budget, and create a plan. You can also pursue various other types of retirement saving options to find more ways to ease financial troubles.

Explore the assisted and independent living communities in your area—exploring these nearby places can provide valuable information and help you feel more assured about the decisions being made. Talk with retired family members or friends living in a senior community to ask questions and learn from their experiences. Their input can make it easier for you to make a decision that feels right for you and your loved ones.

Review our “Choosing a Community” Guide for additional suggestions and checklists to consider and questions to ask on your tours.

When it comes time to look for assisted living, it’s crucial for seniors and family members to understand how to pay for long-term care, ensuring they are well-prepared for their future needs.

Many seniors use savings, retirement accounts, inheritances, and money from selling their homes to pay for assisted living. However, different types of insurance can help with long-term care costs, including in-home care, assisted living communities, or nursing homes. Some life insurance policies also help pay for long-term care. Veterans should also consider available veterans’ benefits as another way to pay for long-term care. Our community team is well-versed in options and would be happy to talk with you. Schedule a tour or contact us today.
