What To Expect With The Heritage at College View Memory Care

Choosing memory care for a loved one ensures they continue to experience life’s moments of joy and connection. At The Heritage at College View, our assisted living and memory care areas blend seamlessly, reflecting our commitment to valuing and prioritizing every community member. Our empathetic, fun-loving associates are ready to jump in with whatever your loved one may need around the clock, utilizing a specialized Montessori method of dementia care that encourages resident decision-making and active participation in their daily lives.

Not only will our care team know the intricacies of your loved one’s care plan, but they also want to learn about their favorite movies, what birds they like to watch, and the recipes for their cherished baked goodies. We put your loved one at the center, using a positive approach we call Portraits®, developed in part by our own team of trained dementia experts.

The Heritage at College View is committed to making this transition as welcoming as possible for individuals of all levels of care. We do all we can to make your loved one feel appreciated and supported so you have peace of mind.

Personalized Memory Care Services

Portraits®

As your loved one’s support needs change, we at The Heritage at College View are committed to ensuring they remain valued and recognized as a capable individual who contributes meaningfully to their daily life. Thanks to our innovative Portraits® program, we develop personalized activities for each resident so they can contribute in a way that is meaningful to them. Each community member has a unique activity guide that caters to their interests and level of care, instilling a sense of purpose as they go about their activities of daily living (ADLs).

Our approach aims to enhance and retain the abilities your loved one already possesses rather than attempting to teach them something new. You may discover your loved one sorting different nuts, bolts, and washers in homage to their years as a craftsman. Alternatively, they could return to their homemaking roots by assisting our associates with folding laundry. The Heritage at College View believes that individuals of all support needs deserve to lead a fulfilling life, and by helping your loved one play a part in our community, we can accomplish this goal. This video dives into how Portraits® helps define our incredible memory care services.

Family Involvement and Support

Moving a family member or friend into memory care can take an emotional toll on more than just your loved one. The Heritage at College View holds group meetings for the families of residents to exchange experiences, lend advice, and develop an increased understanding of dementia, including discovering ways to better communicate with individuals who have cognitive impairments. We are renowned for our prompt and thorough communication with families about the statuses of their loved ones in terms of changing support needs.

Our team holds weekly Spotlight meetings where we review our residents to see if they are experiencing shifts in behavior and accessibility that may necessitate changes to their care plan, keeping families informed on any changes we see and plans of action we want to take.
