What To Expect With Orchard Pointe at Terrazza Memory Care

Orchard Pointe at Terrazza is designed to be the ideal secure environment for seniors with cognitive decline. We lead with empathy and personal connection in everything we do, tailoring each resident’s experience to their own needs and preferences. Our caregivers follow the Montessori method of dementia care, which promotes respect and equality through direct positive reinforcement and engaging activities.

Before your loved one even moves in, we’ll make the effort to make them feel welcome. We conduct an initial assessment to get an understanding of their medical needs and their personal interests so we can build a schedule that feels right. Additionally, we have weekly spotlight meetings involving multiple departments where we discuss changes in your loved one’s condition to help guarantee we’re always on top of things.

Another thing that makes Orchard Pointe at Terrazza unique is we host an on-site school, which trains our caregivers and others on dementia care. In line with our core value of Always Learning, we have made this commitment to dementia care training to always be at the cutting edge of developments in treatment and care.

Personalized Memory Care Services

Portraits®

You will notice some differences when you tour an Orchard Pointe memory care community. At the heart of those differences is  our Montessori-inspired Portraits® program, which offers specialized memory care assistance personalized for each resident. Our friendly team of caregivers takes the time to help guide your loved one with everything from activities of daily living (ADLs) to social stimulation. This allows them to maintain freedom, fosters mental well-being, and creates an enriched quality of life by helping residents be active participants in their community.

Our Portraits® program provides a personalized experience for each resident to help them feel at home. We strive to connect your loved one with their passions, setting them up to enjoy the things they already know and love. For instance, if your family member spent their days tending the garden, we’ll include them in flower arranging or activities in our courtyard garden. Our one-on-one and group activities will also stimulate their mind, helping them build confidence. Watch this video to learn more about the opportunities we provide with our Portraits® program.

Family Involvement and Support

We know that it can be quite stressful to have a loved one experience dementia, particularly if your family has never been in this position. At Orchard Pointe at Terrazza, we hope to be a guide and resource for you on this journey.

Each week, caregivers from multiple departments come together for Spotlight meetings to share updates and point out changes in any residents’ conditions. We then pass that information along to families along with any changes in the resident’s care plan. You may be invited to a support group or educational  meeting for family members to learn more about dementia and how to navigate this period of time. Additionally, we invite family members and friends to join us for activities and events, so don’t hesitate to get in on the fun!
